Ghetto Film School
Joe Hall is Founder of the Ghetto Film School (GFS), a non-profit film academy serving 3,000+ participants per year with operations in NYC and Los Angeles. GFS student projects have been produced on five continents, with hundreds of graduates working in the film, television and advertising industries. In 2007 Hall led a GFS partnership with the City of New York to open The Cinema School as the nation’s first film high school. In the early 1990s Hall moved to the South Bronx as a community social worker at Citizens Advice Bureau and later Banana Kelly, leading homeless relocation, job training, youth development, education and public health projects benefiting thousands of his neighbors. Hall is a trustee of the STREB Extreme Action Company in Brooklyn. He holds a Columbia University masters degree, and his awards  include a Rockefeller Foundation residency in Bellagio, Italy and the 2005 NYC Mayor’s Award for Arts & Culture
